Paperback: It is impossible to write about Mary Pyle without writing about Padre Pio, the Stigmatist, and vice versa.
Both made a lasting impression on people from all parts of the world on account of their profound love for God and neighbour. This book is a testimony to Mary Pyle's lifetime dedication to the cause of Padre Pio, under whose spiritual guidance she remained for forty-five years until her death in 1968 as a Third Order Franciscan.
Although she lived modestly in terms of earthly possessions, she was born an American heiress, a relative of the Rockefeller family. Before becoming a disciple of Padre Pio, she worked for ten years as an interpreter for the famous Italian educator, Dr Maria Montessori, and spoke five languages fluently.
Born a Protestant, she became a convert to Catholicism while in the services of Dr Montessori. On 4 October 1923, she met Padre Pio, and thus began her life in San Giovanni Rotondo.

About the author: Dorothy M Gaudiose first met Padre Pio in 1950 and on the same day, she met the American heiress, Mary Pyle, who had renounced her wealth and social position to become his disciple. Having lived for three years in the town of San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy, where Padre Pio and Mary Pyle were located, and having served as an interpreter for Padre Pio and as a volunteer secretary to Mary Pyle, she wrote the very popular biography of Padre Pio, Prophet of the People. In Mary's House, Dorothy M Gaudiose presents her story of Mary Pyle.
