Lucifer Or The True Story of The Famous Diabolic Possession In Alsace

Paperback: Lucifer Or The True Story of The Famous Diabolic Possession in Alsace (reprint, 2014) is compiled from original Alsatian documents by Abbé Paul Sutter of the diocese of Strasbourg. It is translated from the French by the Reverend Theophilus Borer.

It is an authentic record of the famous diabolic possession in Alsace - of injury done to two innocent boys by the Devil and their process of liberation. How can what happened to those two Illfurt children be explained? These authentic documents, written by eye and ear witnesses who, as experts, have thoroughly investigated the case. The documents are found partly in the archives of the parish, partly in the papers of the ex-Maire and deputy, Ignace Spies, of Selestat, and in the writings of Professor Lachemann, both these gentlemen having investigated the case most thoroughly and most conscientiously.

The Reverend rector Hausser, who in those days chaplain of St Charles' Institute (orphanage) at Schiltigheim, and Monsieur Andre, of Ribeauville, who had charge of the elder boy in the final weeks of his affliction, have also left documentary records of their impressions. A series of articles in the Revue Catholique of Alsace, of the year 1870 and a brief history of the case by l'Abbé Brey, the noble and God-fearing parish priest of Illfurt, have also been consulted.
